How Can a Piano Technician Help You and Your Piano?
Tuning
- Adjusting the tension of the individual strings to produce a pleasing, harmonic sound when playing the piano. I recommend it at least once a year, more often with frequent use or with pianos in overly dry or humid environments.
Repair
- Anything from a sticking key, broken string, or broken parts that may need repairs or replacement.
- Cleaning key tops, dusting, vacuuming, and more.
Regulation
- Adjusting the mechanism, or “action”, of the piano to maximize its efficiency.
- Slight adjustments are made to the action on an ongoing basis.
- A partial or complete regulation may be warranted after a period of years, depending on heavier use or environmental factors.
Estimate/Appraisals
- Assessment of the amount needed for specific repairs or to ascertain the value of a piano for buying or selling.
